Sonic Visions: Heike has the Giggles

Hello PanoPeople!!

Always talking about Sonic Visions, the third and last (but not least) Italian band we tell you about is Heike has the Giggles.

Though really young (between 20 and 21!!), the trio lead by Emanuela Drei (vocals & guitar) has spent almost 3 years on the road touring around.
No doubt they are one of the biggest surprises of Italian rock, this year!!
And they're gonna be a big surprise at Rockhal, no doubt about it..

They will finally release their debut album, Sh, at the beginning of 2010.
These days, they're recording the clip of the first single, Robot, in Berlin.

Their style? As usual, we prefer to let you judge by yourself.
Here you have a couple of live videos: not great quality, but you can see the energy!!

First, Two Sisters, live at Sziget Festival in Budapest!
Yes, not yet a cd out, and already concerts all around Europe..

Then, a really good cover.. check it out!

Last but not least.. a hi from the band!
Aren't they cute? ;)

It is important to say that Heike has the Giggles will be at Sentieri Sonori on Radio Ara, the morning of the festival, from 11.30am to 1pm (103.3 and 105.2fm in Luxembourg, live streaming online everywhere else!).
A good occasion for a chat with Raf and Berardo, and another special guest, Alessandro Ceccarelli, aka Cecca, Mr Estragon. And, maybe.. a little acoustic session?
Not to be missed!!

Sonic Visions: Julie's Haircut

Hello PanoPeople!!

Here we are to tell you, and show you, more of another band of Sonic Vision.

Julie's Haircut are definitely one of Italy’s most interesting alternative rock bands and playing live is really in their nature.

Their style, which is somewhere between Primal Scream and Kasabian, has been tailored to transcend to a higher level once it’s being played live on stage.

Their last, double album is called Our secret ceremony and was released this year on A Silent Place.

Again, to let you judge by yourself, here you have a couple of videos.

First, the video for the song Sleepwalker, directed by Luca Lumaca, 2008. The video is the result of an experiment made possible thanks to the collaboration of many friends and fans that made their MacBooks available on a sunny sunday afternoon in march. The video was filmed exclusively by 12 isight webcam by Apple placed around the band.

Then a live version of The Shadow, Our Home (from the latest album), on the beach in Cesenatico, July 4th, 2009.

Stay tuned!!

Sonic Visions: Beatrice Antolini

Hello PanoPeople!!

Let's start presenting the Italian artists of Sonic Visions from
Beatrice Antolini.

Born in Macerata in 1982, she started playing piano at the age of 3 and studied at the conservatory.
She started writing songs, with English lyrics, and ended up signing with indie label Urtovox in 2004.

Her debut album, Big Saloon, was published in 2006 and earned her a big interest both from critics and public.
She started touring intensively, also collaborating with artists such as Jennifer Gentle, Baustelle and Bugo.
Her second cd, A due, has been released at the end of 2008, confirming her as one of the "next big things" of Italian indie.

To explain what does she sound like, we can say that se has more than one thing in common with Fiona Apple.
Besides the same passion for the piano, she is also kind of a crazy genius when it comes to song writing.
Furthermore, she leaves a similar mark as an inventive, not a trivial artist.

She could definitely be this year’s big surprise at the Sonic Visions Festival!

To let you judge by yourself, here you have two videos.

First, the official clip for Funky Show, first single from A due:

Then, to see what her live shows loos like, A new room for a quiet life, recorded at Villa Scarfantoni nel 2008, at the beginning of the A due tour:

Sonic Visions Festival @ Rockhal!!

Hello PanoPeople!!

Yes, we know, it's a month we are silent..
Well, otherwise, it wouldn't be a sabbatic period!
Anyway, here we are back to you with really good news.

Let's start from.. the end!
Strange as it may seems, time flies, and
our sabbatic semester is approaching to its end!!
Panoplie events will be back from January 2010..
And we are working on big things.

As usual, stay tuned on here for more news!
We can start telling you one thing..
You should be in Luxembourg on January 16th.
Curious? Good.. that's what we wanted!!
We're sure you won't be deceived.

on November 27th (Friday) and 28th (Saturday).

It's the second edition of the Sonic Visions Showcases & Conferences and there will be again meetings between professionals from all over Europe, workshops, discussion forums and conferences, but also more than 20 concerts during two days.

Julie's Haircut
Heike has the Giggles
Beatrice Antolini

In the coming days/weeks, we will post more about Sonic Visions, and especially about these three bands: stay tuned!!

A concert not to be missed: Elliot Murphy!!

Hello PanoPeople!!

Going good?
Not missing our events too much?

Well, if it's the case, we can give you good news: we're already working on a couple of future events.
Really cool stuff.. stay tuned!!

Anyway, it's not gonna be before the end of the year so, in the meantime, we thought of indicating you other gigs in the Luxembourg area which we think you shouldn't miss..

First of all, a gig we're somehow involved in..
ELLIOT MURPHY @ Rockhal,
on October 17th!

Elliott Murphy is not only a tireless guitar player, an exceptional songwriter and Bruce Springsteen's bosom buddy… In his spare time, he is also a writer and he's one of those artists who "live on the road". As he's playing more than a hundred concerts per year, it was only a question of time for him to come to the Rockhal.

Thirty-six years have passed since Aquashow, Elliott Murphy's first album, which was released in 1973. However, the artist has never been as present as today. His latest album, Notes from the Underground, earned him some more very good reviews in the United States and in Europe.

Elliott Murphy surely knows how to play the guitar! At the age of 12, he founded his first band with which he won the New York State Battle of the Bands only a little later. It was the starting point of a long career. Throughout the years, he preserved his desire and his passion for folk rock, which he shares with musicians such as Bob Dylan, Tom Petty or Bruce Springsteen. Bruce Springsteen actually invited Murphy to play with him on stage several times when he was on tour in France, which is Elliott Murphy's adopted country.

Now it's time for Elliott Murphy to get back on the road. He's not tired of playing on stage yet, so he's decided to start another European tour. And he's stopping by at the Rockhal!

We definitely will be there: hope to cya, too!!

Thank you all... see you soon!!

Hello PanoPeople!

We definitely are tired.. but so happy.
It has a great weekend with Paolo Benvegnù!
Always great to spend some time with these great artists.. and wonderful persons!!

What a long day, yesterday..
Started at 11.30am at Radio Ara, with Paolo at Sentieri Sonori.
So good to talk to him, and to have him playing a few acoustic songs live.
If you missed it, you have another chance: the radio show will be on the air again in 2 weeks' time, on July 25th.

Then Bettembourg..
Let us thank everybody there, starting from Cyrille: great organisation, great shows, nice staff..
And, as usual.. what a show by Paolo and his band!!

Some images will follow soon.. or, at least, we hope it'll be soon!
Thanks also to Federica, our photographer straight from Rome.
As well as to the others who came to the Grand-Duchy for this event, first of all Oliver.

Now.. an announcement: this has been our last event of the year.
Panoplie will take a sabbatic semestre, and will be back at the beginning of 2010.
You know, it's 3 years we have never stopped.. it's a great experience, always with great emotions and satisfaction.. but it's also lots of work, especially for people having other jobs.

But, don't worry: this doesn't mean we're quitting!
We'll just take some time.. to have a private life.
And we'll probably be back already on January..

Until then, stay tuned on here.
We will update this site, and upload more contents: images, videos, news..

Take care & keep cool

PIN III: thanxxx

Hello PanoPeople!!

This magic has just gone.. we still have to recover!
And we're not just saying we're tired.. but most of all that it has been two nights full of emotions.

On Friday, two comebacks.
Atleticodefina, coming back one year and a half after, with a new band, a new cd.. rocking the house even more.
Emidio Clementi, two years after his reading at the first PIN, giving us the honour of welcoming back to the scenes Massimo Volume, 6 years after their split-up.. One hour and a half of uninterrupted shivers.
Then, the big party until 3, with DJ Moostash..

On Saturday, two really nice pop concerts.
Ariadineve, with their mix of pop-styles, and the elegance of their front-woman Eleonora.
Il Genio, with Alessandra and Gianluca transforming their electro-duo in a live-band, well supported by two ex Jennifer Gentle on guitar and drums.
Then, more party until 3, this time with Mad Fred.

Oh, not to forget: the wonderful participation of Pas and Mimì to Sentieri Sonori, on Saturday morning.
Always not easy to get up so early the morning after, but it was a pleasure and a honour to have them with Raf and Berardo, for a great chat and two acoustic songs.. more shivers!!

As usual.. no, more than usual, we need to thank you all.
First, the bands: we're lucky enough to take here great artists, who then happen to be really nice human beings.
Second, the public: it's such a busy period, in Luxembourg, but you've been a lot, and most important you've been a great public, attentive and warm.
Last but not least, d:qliq staff: Serginho and his mojtos, Fred, Manu..

Now, next event on July 11th: Paolo Benvegnù live at the Fête des Cultures, in the Château de Bettembourg.
We'll tell you more soon..

Stay tuned on here, also because.. some souvenirs of PIN III will follow soon!!
Quite a few nice pix, maybe also.. some videos?

Ariadineve: bio & videos!

Hello PanoPeople!!

Last but not least, let us present you Ariadineve, the opening band of Saturday, June 13th @ Panoplie Italian Nights III.

Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi (ex La Crus singer) as guest, Paolo Benvegnù and Lele Battista as producers: here it is Buone Vacanze, debut album by Ariadineve, released in January 2009.

After D’Estate, first cool single that last summer had a great success in Italian radios, Ariadineve have released last winter Buone Vacanze, presented by the single Lo Specchio, featuring Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi.

Ariadineve are Eleonora Tosca, Fabio D'amico, Stefano Campanini, Murizio Fusco e Luca Damonte.
Their style mixes vintage sounds and modern British verve, not forgetting the tradition of Italian songwriting.

A great opening for a nice indiepop night!!

Il Genio: bio & videos!

Hello PanoPeople!

After a Friday with male rockers, Saturday at PIN III will be dedicated to more melodic sounds, and female vocalists.

Probably lots of you (certainly all Italians) already know them,
at least for their single Pop Porno, but let us present the headliners,
big sensation of Italian indie-pop,
Il Genio!

Il Genio got together at the beginning of 2007, when Gianluca De Rubertis (formerly keyboards player of Studiodavoli) and Alessandra Contini decided to give life to their songs, composed on computer, home of the new millennium.

The project starts quickly: only two months after, they are already playing live, not only in Salento (where they both come from), but also in big cities such as Milano, Roma and Bologna, reaching a really high number of visit/friends on their official myspace.

In September 2007, the record deal with Disastro Records, rapidly followed, two months after, by the recording session of their debut album, Il Genio.
Artistic supervisors are Davide D'Antuono (A&R for Disastro), Marco Fasolo (Jennifer Gentle) and Stefano Manca (Sudestudio).
It has been recorded at Ectoplasmic Garden, dark oasis of Jennifer Gentle, on tape, using every sort of vintage equipment, and mixed by Stefano Manca.

The atmosphere is ironic and sexy, elegant but winking to punk, with lyrics that are never banal. Il Genio plays electro-pop music with a retro atmosphere, singing in Italian and French. It's easy-listening but at the same time refined and elegant, between chansionniers français, modern melody of bands such as Blonde Redhead and Stereo Total's irony.

The single Pop Porno has been one of the biggest hits of last year, and the band has become the new sensation of Italian pop.
Il Genio are now touring with a full band, including Andrea Garbo on guitar and Paolo Mongardi, and starting to look outside Italy: they will also play in Paris and Brussels.

Atleticodefina: bio & videos!

Hello PanoPeople!

After Massimo Volume, let us present you Atleticodefina,
opening act of Panoplie Italian Nights III.

Atleticodefina is the band of Pasquale Defina, who first got known for his collaboration with important artists such as Cristina Donà, Manuel Agnelli (Afterhours) and Emidio Clementi (Massimo Volume), Steve Piccolo, Sainkho Namtchylack...

After the experience with Volwo, giving birth to the cd Viva Vittoria (2002), he creates Atleticodefina in 2005, publishing the same year the eponymous debut album.

The second cd, Tutti amano tutti, was released in April 2007. The line-up included Giorgio Prette (Afterhours' drummer) and Saturnino (one the the best Italian bass players, having played with Jovanotti for a long time), and amongst the guests we can find Cesare Basile, Massimo Martellotta (Calibro 35), Syria... It is from these collaborations that the idea behind Tutti Amano Tutti was born, as a "proof of love, friendship, respect". The meeting/clash of musicians having strong personality but different and recognisable style gave birth to a strange musical alchemy.

On November 2007, Atleticodefina had a great show at d:qliq: hereafter a few videos of that night!

On May 7th, 2009, the third album of Atleticodefina has been released: Revolwo.
It has been recorded by Antonio "Cooper" Cupertino @ Officine Meccaniche, the recording studio of Mauro Pagani (founding member of PFM, co-author of Fabrizio De André Creuza de ma and Le Nuvole..).
Artistic producer is Giorgio Canali, founding member of CSI (Consorzio Suonatori Indipendendenti), member of PGR, who is releasing his new cd with Rossofuoco. Giorgio is also an important producer, latest example being Le Luci della Centrale Elettrica, last year's sensation of Italian indie.
With Daniele Raggi (electric guitar), Riccardo Marinelli (drums), Andrea Samonà (bass guitar) and Giorgio Canali (e-bow), Pasquale De Fina (vocals, electric and acoustic guitars) has decided to record an album starting back from Volwo, his first project.
Saturnino (also known for his collaboration with Lorenzo Jovanotti) on bass guitar on 3 songs, Tribalex (Ritmo Tribale) on drums and Roberto Romano (Volwo) on sax on one, Luca Bresciani on fender rhodes on another: like Tutti Amano Tutti, the cd is rich of guests and collaborations.

Revolwo has already attracted the interest of Italian press, and has been presented live in Italy throughout the month of May.

Then, Pasquale De Fina and his band will reach Luxembourg on June, to open Panoplie Italian Nights III @ d:qliq, on Friday 12th, sharing the stage with long-time friend and musical partner Mimì Clementi.
And, be ready.. Pas & Mimì could give us a surprise or two, that night..

Massimo Volume: bio & videos

Hello PanoPeople!

Time runs fast: just three weeks to the big event!
Time for us to start giving you further info on the great bands composing the line-up of Panoplie Italian Nights III.

Let us start from what undeniably is the most awaited band:
Massimo Volume!
Awaited not just here in Luxembourg: their reunion (6 years after the split-up) has been one of the biggest events of last year, in Italy.

Massimo Volume formed in Bologna during the winter of 1991 and later signed their first record contract with Underground Rec, to publish their debut record Stanze (Rooms) in 1993. The band has an extremely personal sound: big impact, tension and distortion alternate with more introspective moments, that still maintain, in any case, a strong emotional charge. The record receives good feedback, both from critics and public.

Concerts follow one after the other. In 1994, major labels notice the band and, at the beginning of March, Massimo Volume sign a contract with Wea, which will publish their second work, Lungo i bordi (Along the edges). Artistic production is entrusted to Fausto Rossi, considered by the band members the example of how to make music without any kind of market oriented restriction. The relationship is not always easy, but inspired enough to give birth to one of the cornerstones of new rock. The band has finally removed all link to foreign models and the record is powerful, its sound unmistakable.

Even John Cale notices the band, proposing himself to produce the third record, Da Qui (From here), a job that will then be entrusted to Steve Piccolo (ex Lounge Lizard). We are in 1997 and Massimo Volume are now signed to the label Mescal. “Da Qui” is influenced by the project Clementi and Sommacal, carried on in the period elapsed between their two last albums: a sort of laboratory where, the new songs were shaped through live performances for voice, guitar and harmonium. Music is minimal, evocative, while the lyrics weave short stories with characters recurring song after song and creating a real, tangible poetic world, the same we find in Gara di Resistenza (Endurance race), a collection of short stories published in the mean time by Emidio Clementi, which will be followed in January 1999 by his first novel, Il Tempo di Prima (The time before) and by a new record, produced by Manuel Agnelli from Afterhours.

Club Privé catches a bit unprepared critics and audiences and marks a new escape line in the artistic path of the band. For the first time, Emidio not only reads his lyrics but sings in a few tracks. Music has traveled from the violent impact of the beginnings to flavours of jazz and lyrics themselves are not short stories anymore, but brush-strokes painting a world of feelings and memories that colour masterfully the last chapter of a musical history which becomes more and more fascinating.
The tour, started straight after the publishing of the album, went on over the whole peninsula side by side with a new project, Gli agnelli clementi, a reading shared by Emidio “Mimì” Clementi and Manuel Agnelli (also with Pasquale De Fina). Later, the band recorded the original soundtrack for the movie Almost Blue, which included songs already featured in their albums and some instrumental tracks among which a cover of the classical Elvis Costello song.

On September 28th 2001, Fazi Editore published Emidio’s second novel, La notte del pratello (Pratello’s night), but in February 2002 suddenly arrived the news no one would have ever wanted to read: Massimo Volume breaking up and bringing to an end their artistic journey.

Each of them took on new projects in the following years: Vittoria Burattini played with Franklin Delano, while Egle Sommacal published a solo record, Legno. Mimì Clementi dedicated his time to the project El-Muniria, publishing the CD Stanza 218 with Homesleep Records, and to his third novel, L’ultimo Dio, published in 2004. In early 2009 Mimì has published his fifth book (fourth novel), Matilde e i suoi tre padri (Matilde and her three fathers).

But in 2008, after a six years hiatus, Massimo Volume accept to share again their music with the audience. Two main events mark their comeback on Italian stages: the participation to the Traffic Festival on a special night with Patti Smith and Afterhours and the sonorization of the movie La caduta di casa Usher (The fall of the house of Usher), a fascinating project realized on behalf of the Turin Museum of Cinema and brought to the scene, in the same city, at Officine Grandi Riparazioni (OGR).
Finally Massimo Volume were ready to start again where they had stopped six years earlier with their live activity and those who were lucky enough to witness their reunion in Turin can guarantee how much this was needed in the Italian artistic landscape!

Mimì Clementi participated to the first edition of Panoplie Italian Nights
, in 2007, with a reading of L’ultimo Dio, accompanied by Massimo Carozzi.
At the time, he said he hoped to come back with a full band: well, there he goes!

Not to be missed, absolutely!!

Cheers

It's definitely gonna be two great nights.
The first one tougher, in words and sounds, the second smoother, with soft melodies.
Both of great quality, they will give you a wonderful picture of Italian Indie scene.

As usual, both nights will start with a buffet of Italian products, and end up with great dj-sets...

Do we need to say much more?

Sentieri Sonori special Revolwo

Hello PanoPeople!

We're proud to announce a very special event for Sentieri Sonori, the show of Radio Ara.

On Saturday, April 18th, Berardo and Raf will have the honour to present you Revolwo, the forthcoming album of Atleticodefina, three weeks before its official release, on May 8th.

Pasquale De Fina will be their guest for a long phone chat, and you'll have an exclusive preview of a few tracks from the cd.

Revolwo has been recorded by Antonio "Cooper" Cupertino @ Officine Meccaniche, the recording studio of Mauro Pagani (founding member of PFM, co-author of Fabrizio De André Creuza de ma and Le Nuvole..).
Saturnino (also known for his collaboration with Lorenzo Jovanotti) on bass guitar on 3 songs, Tribalex (Ritmo Tribale) on drums and Roberto Romano (Volwo) on sax on one, Luca Bresciani on fender rhodes on another: like Tutti Amano Tutti (2007), the cd is rich of guests and collaborations.

Revolwo has already attracted the interest of Italian press, and quite a few shows are already announced in Italy on May.
Then, Atleticodefina will reach Luxembourg on June, to open Panoplie Italian Nights III @ d:qliq, on Friday 12th.

So, do not miss your chance to discover Revolwo three weeks before its official release!

April 25th: a very special night!

Hello PanoPeople!

As you have seen from our homepage, great news for our next event @ d:qliq, on Saturday April 25h.

An important day for Italy, as it is Liberation Day, and for a part of the Panoplie Team, so we had already gone for a special concert:
Proiettili Buoni
, supergroup including Marco Parente and Paolo Benvegnù.

Now, it has got even more special..

First of all, Proiettili Buoni will perform a special acoustic set: an even rarest event, offering us the "naked" meeting of such two great singers-songwriters.

Second, we have added another great artist, also to respond to many requests we received, after his amazing concert of last year.
Massimo Giangrande will be there with his guitar, too, to create a trio of incredible talent.

Get ready for a night of intense emotions!

This Saturday, March 28th @ d:qliq !!!

Hello PanoPeople!

Just ten days since Joy & Calibro 35 show @ Exit07... but also just 4 days to Schonwald & Killed by 9V Batteries @ d:qliq!

Schonwald
is the new project of Alessandra and Luca from Italian indie band Pitch.

Schonwald is all about atmospheres: a hypnotic minimalist mood and a strong noise inclination with echoes of Sonic Youth, Blonde Redhead mingling with synth melodies straight from the '80.

Their debut album Amplified nature has been released by our Pocket Heaven Records on January 2009 on a special vinyl edition including cd and is distributed in Italy by Audioglobe.

They’re back to Luxembourg, after their successful participation to Panoplie Italian Nights 2 and Musiques Volantes in 2008.

Killed by 9V Batteries is a band formed in the provincial town of Weiz, in southern Austria.

Guitars piling up upon each other and sticking out of the pile to every imaginable direction in a way that makes Dinosaur JR look pretty senior, and dropping hooklines at a rate that makes Lou Barlow and Bob Pollard run for their 4 tracks just to keep track.

They recorded more than 200 songs in the past 4 years. The best of them is now nicely assembled on their first official LP, produced by the german specialist of the hour for shredding guitars (Tobias Siebert) and released in November in Austria .

AfterShowParty with The Bud Spencers until 3am!

All of this, for just 5 €, or 10 € including Schonwald album!!!

This Saturday @ Exit07!!!

Hello PanoPeople!!!

Time flies, and this Saturday, March 14th, is already the big day: Calibro 35 & Joy @ Exit07!!!

It's definitely going to be a great night of music.

First, the comeback on the scenes of Marc Huyghens, ex-frontman of great Belgian rock band Venus, with his new creature, Joy.
A trio (guitar, cello and drums) creating enchanting atmospheres with fascinating melodies and vocals: shivers guaranteed!
A special event: they haven't yet published anything, and they will present us their first demo, recorded in September 2008.

Then, another comeback, this time to Luxembourg scenes.
Italian super-group Calibro 35 comes back to the Grand-Duchy after their first gig ever @ d:qliq in January 2008, already with great success.
Since then, their re-discovery of golden age Italian soundtracks has enriched, playing lots of shows throughout Italy and Europe: their live set has got way better, believe us!!!
They will present us their first album, which first edition has already gone sold out, and has attracted a huge interest of public and medias... and maybe some new stuff?

B4 & after the gigs, Kunstonbeater and his Italian music library dj-set!!!

Got it?
Too many good reasons not to miss this great event!

Cya there!!!

Info for bands & booking agencies

This blog is normally intended to give information to the public... this time, we address a post to all bands and booking agencies.

First of all, let us thank you: it is a pleasure to have so many of you contacting us, showing interest on what we do...
We're proud of this: as you know, there's no lucrative scope behind Panoplie, we just do it because we love music, and the interest (which sometimes becomes real friendship) of so many artists is a great reward.

Also, we are always happy to discover artists we don't know, and sometimes strange coincidences can take that all very far...
Good examples can be artists such as Athebustop or Atleticodefina, met "by chance", and become part of the Panoplie Family.

At the same time, be aware that we are always busy with lots of events, and always work much in advance: at Xmas time, all events until summertime are fixed, and before summer holidays everything's done until the end of the year.
It is important to know that, as Panoplie has no lucrative scope, we all have other jobs, so we can't manage more than 10 events a year, more or less.

All of this to tell you:
  • Please don't stop contacting us, sending mails, cds, etc.
  • Please be aware that we always try to reply (sincerely and straightly), but sometimes it could take some time, sorry.
  • Please know that resources here are limited, thus we can't do everything, not even all things we really love.
  • Please be sure that we have always done, and we will always do everything we can to help promoting the music and the artists we love.

Thank you all for your interest, collaboration, comprehension...

Respect
Panoplie Team

Calibro 35 & Joy @ Exit07 !!!

Hello PanoPeople!!!

Here you have further info on the night of March 14th, @ Exit07.

First of all, please be informed that pre-sales are open, on e-ticket.
Tickets are not even 12 euro... not bad, for one of the most interesting new band of Italian Indie, and the new project of the leader of Belgian cult-band Venus, isn't it?
So... get your tickets!!!
Oterhwise, as we said for Daniele Silvestri... don't complain if you can't get in. :p

Then, if anyone should need, hereafter some bio-notes on the two bands.

After having recorded 5 albums and played hundreds of gigs all across Europe with his band Venus (as headliners, or supporting bands such as Sixteen Horsepower, Mogwai, John Parish, dEUS), Marc A. Huyghens decided to put an end to that wonderful story. He took a one-year break and then started working on a new minimalist project called Joy.

Françoise Vidick, who'd worked as backup vocalist with many different artists such as Adamo and Zap Mama, joined him to sing and play drums. Through friends, they met Swedish cellist Anja Naucler after a gig she'd played with the African singer Manou Gallo... And Joy was born! Their first demo was recorded by Duke in the Belgian countryside in September 2008 and it was mixed by Gilles Martin in Paris the following month.

And now, something completely different... Calibro 35!

There is just one kind of music Italians REALLY do better than anybody else: soundtracks. Researches begun years ago, digging dusty vinyl crates for obscure samples. The discovery of Italian '60s and '70s soundtracks was a crucial point; from that moment on nothing sounded as good and interesting as electrifying tracks from exploitation movies.

By the summer of 2007, time was ready and Tommaso Colliva (Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Arto Lindsay) invited an incredible jam band formed by Massimo Martellotta (Stewart Copeland, Eugenio Finardi, Mauro Pagani) on guitars and lapsteels, Enrico Gabrielli (Afterhours, Mariposa, Morgan) on keyboards and horns, Fabio Rondanini (Pino Marino, Roberto Angelini, Collettivo Angelo Mai) on drums and Luca Nano Cavina (Transgender, Lindo Ferretti) on bass to record in Milan.

Tracklist of the cd includes well known themes (two of them were used by Tarantino in his movies) as well as rare compositions by Morricone, Micalizzi, Cipriani, Luis Bacalov, Trovajoli...

We're proud to say that their first gig ever (a few months before recording the cd) was last year at d:qliq: the band and the public loved it so much that we had to make them come back this year!
